Holding Out H.E.L.P. was established in 2008 as a charitable organization to assist families whose lives have been affected by polygamy through a network of volunteers, state agencies and individual donors. Ultimately, we strive to increase the self-sufficiency and the dignity that everyone deserves. We have gone from serving just over 60 people in 2009 to over 250 men, women and children with the assistance needed to change their lives. We have many more reaching out to HOH for support, love, encouragement and resources. In 2013 we anticipate an exponential amount of growth as the events and leadership of the FLDS in Colorado City continue to experience upheaval. It is more important than ever that we have a successful fundraiser/awareness night.Our primary fundraiser is this Annual Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction. Your tax deductible donation will help meet the budget for this year to provide food, clothing, shelter, access to counseling and legal services, and all other costs necessary to meet the needs of these families whose lives have been affected by polygamy. Watch Holding Out HELP on Sister Wives

Sunday, December 9th at 7:00pm MST (9:00pm EST)

Earlier this year, we were invited to join the Brown family with some of the young adults that Holding Out HELP assists for an episode of Sister Wives that airs this Sunday night at 7p.m. MST on TLC. The show did a very good job of contrasting those that we serve coming out of polygamy, and the struggles they face, with what is seen on Sister Wives. Our young adults shared their stories of abuse, abandonment, and the destruction of their families and showed the necessity of the services that Holding Out HELP provides. Please consider watching and seeing firsthand some of the lives that your support of HOH has been assisting – and THANK YOU for continuing to serve and share!

As Ben Winslow from Fox 13 (Utah) describes in the following news report, this is a “humanitarian crisis.” We are grateful because it is only through YOUR donations that HOH has been able meet needs and serve on the front lines. Please watch the video below for more details on what is going on within the FLDS community.

We plan on returning next month to bring more items for those in need. Here are some items that we still need:

• toilet paper
• paper towels
• dish sets (specifically plasticware – safe for children), pots and pans, baking sets, and other kitchenware
• laundry detergent, fabric softener, stain remover and laundry baskets
• gas gift cards in $25 and $50 increments
• vacuums
• towel sets
• buckets with cleaning supplies
• silverware sets (for at least a family of 8)

You can drop these items at South Mountain Community Church in Draper, UT between 9am-3pm Monday – Thursday.

ABC News did a story tonight, “Holding Out HELP Serves Families Escaping Polygamist Groups.” In the news clip, ABC Reporter Amy Robach tells Anchor Diane Sawyer about Holding Out HELP’s desperate need for money and help. If this is your first time hearing about HOH or you are a long time supporter we would ask that you help us in anyway that you can. The amount of people that we are helping is growing every day and because of the turmoil in the FLDS community we are expecting those needs to grow.

We are very excited to announce our Second Annual 5k Run to raise money for Holding Out HELP! Whether you are competitive and want to run for the time, are social and want to walk and visit, or somewhere in between – please come support an amazing charity!

The 5k race will take place on Saturday, September 22nd at 9:00am at the Draper City Park.
We will have a 1k race for children under 12 immediately following the 5k.

Cost:
The 5k race costs $20.00 per person. Only those that pre-register by September 12th will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

The 1k for children 12 and under will cost $15 per person. Participants in the 1k will receive a medal, not a t-shirt, for participating.

Family pricing offered with pre-registration only – $60 per family (will include 2 t-shirts, additional t-shirts can be ordered. Suggested donation per additional shirt is $10).

Day of race registration:
Will not include a t-shirt. Cost will still be $20 (5k) or $15 (1k).

Limited amount of shirts will be available for purchase day of race for suggested donation of $10.
